Sponsoring The Blogcademy London

The Blogcademy. No boredom. No blathering. No bullshit. What a tagline.

If you are interested in the world of blogging, instagram and twitter, you will more than likely have heard of The Blogcademy. A two day workshop ran by the ultimate blogging babes, Kat of Rock n Roll Bride, Gala Darling and Shauna of Nubby Twiglet. Over the two days, bloggers learn everything from how to take the perfect selfie, branding advice, still life workshops and a whole lot more. All whilst wearing glitter animal ears from the fabulous Crown and Glory.

When they announced the London workshops earlier this year, we knew we just had to get involved. One email to Kat later and we had become decor sponsors for the London event. Unfortunately we had work booked in for the date, so couldn't attend, but set to work filling a giant box with blogcademy branded goodies to send down to London! It was a no brainer we would have to send down some of our paper flowers. We are becoming known for them and sending a box of goodies without them would have felt plain wrong. We also created metres, upon metres of geometric bunting (another recent obsession of ours) and a whole load of blogcademy coloured paper fans. We are so used to working with muted pastel colours within the wedding industry, it was lovely to play with the awesome blogcademy brand colours.

Over the two London sessions and the four days in total, we spent the whole time refreshing twitter and instagram and loved the many updates from the Head Mistresses and Blogcadettes. Seeing how the team had used our decorations to style the gorgeous all white venue was awesome. There were paper flower selfies, an abundance of still life pictures and they creeped into the background of most pictures.

The paper fans and garlands are available to buy in our Etsy store and if you use discount code BLOGBABE you can receive 10% off everything! You can also order custom made paper flowers by contacting us directly through our website. We absolutely adore making them.

Take a look through our photos of a small selection of what we made, then scroll to the bottom to see the awesome instagram updates from the weekend!

Flower Power at The Custard Factory

We adore being a part of the alternative wedding industry. Being surrounded by people who think outside the box, create wedding dresses covered in tattoos and photograph your day in heelys, makes us smile on a daily basis. So as you can imagine, there were smiles all round when the fabulous Jay Emme Photography tagged us in the following photos earlier this month.

It featured our very bright paper flowers being used for a very impromtpu photo shoot with Rachael of Marry Me Ink. The flowers where in Birmingham with Jo at The Couture Company for a shoot she had done previously with Emma Case. So seeing them being used again, with another awesome photographer made us very happy indeed.

Taking place in and around the Custard Factory, Jay photographed Rachael wearing the most incredible dresses by The Couture Company, (that lining, those flowers! *swoon*) and Rachael's hair and make up where styled to perfection by Sarah's Doo-Wop Dos.

We loved seeing our rainbow coloured flowers being used in such an awesome way. If you are interested in ordering some for your big day or event, send an email or get in touch to find out more. We can send our flowers anywhere in the UK and prices start from £10.00 per flower for the large varieties. To see more paper flower examples, check out our website.

The full set of photos have been featured over on the Marry Me Ink blog, so do go and check it out, but here are our favourite images from the day.

Our Love Affair With Paper Flowers

In the beginning of 2013, our very first bride Karen sent us this picture. The utterly beautiful Chanel 2009, fashion show backdrop, accompanied by this caption.
"If only the staircase for my wedding could look like that."

She was joking and genuinely not expecting our reply.
"Yes, yes, yes. Let's do it!"
As soon as we saw this image we instantly fell in love. What would look more stunning in a wedding than a staircase of paper flowers?

Karen's venue was The Atheneum in Liverpool. If you aren't aware of it, check it out, just behind Primark you will find this amazing hidden gem. Inside it has the most beautiful cast iron, spiral staircase spinning up the whole of the building.

After seeing the staircase and with Chanel as our inspiration, that was that, we were in! We set to work and four weeks later with the help of our assistant Emily, we created 300 small flowers and over 100 large ones.

Then the day came. On the first Saturday of June, we dressed the wedding of Karen and Lee. It has been one of our career highlights and we still receive amazing feedback about the day now. In fact, you can read about the whole thing on Rock My Wedding.

As you can imagine, we took hundreds of photos, but when Claire Penn, photographer extraordinaire is around, you really do leave it to the experts.

Since that day, we have had a lot of flower bookings and experimented with paper styles and size. Every flower we make is completely hand crafted by us and we can create them using a wide range of materials and colours.

If you would like to order some for your own celebration, do not hesitate to get in touch. We love any excuse to get our scissors out and create something beautiful.

2013, what a year.

2013 at Strange Case Collective has been amazing.

We turned two-years-old, got featured on our favourite wedding blogs, headed the design for a nationwide TV commercial, made hundreds of paper flowers, met our crafting Queen and helped to create incredible memories for an amazing couple. We've definitely packed it all in.

We were going to sit here and write a big blog highlighting everything we did, but then we thought, hey, a picture says a thousand words. So here are thousands of words for you, featuring our most favourite projects and moments this year.

Here is to 2014, bring it on.
