Pink peonies and stickers.

Earlier this year we had the pleasure of designing a range of wedding stationery for a very special couple, Erin and Gary. With Gary being the brother of my boyfriend, the pressure was on to make sure we got them spot on.

After our first consultation with Erin and Gary and being given a theme of pink, peonies and beautiful fonts, we couldn't wait to get started and set Ian our graphic designer to work.

With the wedding taking place in Northern Ireland and a lot of guests travelling over from Liverpool, we knew a map element would be needed and Ian had been dying to create one within a stationery suite for a while. All together we designed the wedding invitations, wedding location map, RSVP's, stickers and order of service.

The simple colour palette and the romantic fonts made us really fall in love with this set of stationery and as a huge fan of peonies I adored the use of them throughout. I still have their invitation proudly sitting on my mantle piece now.

"The team over at Strange Case were a pleasure to work with. No design was too big or amendment too small. They managed to capture everything we wanted in our wedding stationery and put together something for us that was totally unique to our wedding.Erin and I couldn't recommend Strange Case enough." - Gary and Erin Byrne.

We absolutely adored creating this stationery. One highlight will be sitting in the church, as a guest and seeing everyone comment on how lovely the order of service were. We never get to see that part and it was a real career highlight.

Wedding Wednesday - Chevrons, Peach, Mint and Ribbons.

It's no secret at Strange Case that we think we have an awesome team. Each member has such a wide range of skills and passions that it makes each day varied, fun and always different. If you have read any of our previous posts, you have probably heard us blog about Ian before, he is our in house graphic designer and secret nerd. He can adapt to any style, create awesome branding and most of all designs gorgeous graphics inspired wedding stationery.

Over the coming months, each one of our team is going to be taking over the blog and talking a little more in detail about their role and the work they produce. So without further ado, ladies and gents, we give you, Ian. Be nice, say hello and check out his work.

I’ve been designing wedding stationary with the strange case girls for a while now, but the invites for Sarah and Michael are ones that have really stood out.

The style is very clean and modern but with a huge personal touch for the couple. Peach and mint look great together along side a range of typefaces. The chevron style pattern was chosen across the range bringing in a third colour to break everything down a little.

Who doesn’t love a chevron pattern!

We added a ribbon to the main invites so the couple could personally hand write names of their guests.

The RSVP design also allowed the guests to send Sarah and Michael their ideas of how they will look on their big day. We done this using mannequin style illustrations for the guests to draw over.

We finished off the stationary with a small poem card, written by the couple and matching stickers. Let's face it, everyone loves stickers!

Incorporating the chevron pattern and colour scheme across the range, really made the invites stand out and when we received delivery of the print, we couldn’t of been happier with how they turned out.

If you are interested in ordering bespoke wedding stationery from us, visit our stationery page to see more examples of the work Ian and Jen, our illustrator have produced. Prices start from £1.50 per invitation and all prices include a fully bespoke design.

Flower Power at The Custard Factory

We adore being a part of the alternative wedding industry. Being surrounded by people who think outside the box, create wedding dresses covered in tattoos and photograph your day in heelys, makes us smile on a daily basis. So as you can imagine, there were smiles all round when the fabulous Jay Emme Photography tagged us in the following photos earlier this month.

It featured our very bright paper flowers being used for a very impromtpu photo shoot with Rachael of Marry Me Ink. The flowers where in Birmingham with Jo at The Couture Company for a shoot she had done previously with Emma Case. So seeing them being used again, with another awesome photographer made us very happy indeed.

Taking place in and around the Custard Factory, Jay photographed Rachael wearing the most incredible dresses by The Couture Company, (that lining, those flowers! *swoon*) and Rachael's hair and make up where styled to perfection by Sarah's Doo-Wop Dos.

We loved seeing our rainbow coloured flowers being used in such an awesome way. If you are interested in ordering some for your big day or event, send an email or get in touch to find out more. We can send our flowers anywhere in the UK and prices start from £10.00 per flower for the large varieties. To see more paper flower examples, check out our website.

The full set of photos have been featured over on the Marry Me Ink blog, so do go and check it out, but here are our favourite images from the day.

Our Love Affair With Paper Flowers

In the beginning of 2013, our very first bride Karen sent us this picture. The utterly beautiful Chanel 2009, fashion show backdrop, accompanied by this caption.
"If only the staircase for my wedding could look like that."

She was joking and genuinely not expecting our reply.
"Yes, yes, yes. Let's do it!"
As soon as we saw this image we instantly fell in love. What would look more stunning in a wedding than a staircase of paper flowers?

Karen's venue was The Atheneum in Liverpool. If you aren't aware of it, check it out, just behind Primark you will find this amazing hidden gem. Inside it has the most beautiful cast iron, spiral staircase spinning up the whole of the building.

After seeing the staircase and with Chanel as our inspiration, that was that, we were in! We set to work and four weeks later with the help of our assistant Emily, we created 300 small flowers and over 100 large ones.

Then the day came. On the first Saturday of June, we dressed the wedding of Karen and Lee. It has been one of our career highlights and we still receive amazing feedback about the day now. In fact, you can read about the whole thing on Rock My Wedding.

As you can imagine, we took hundreds of photos, but when Claire Penn, photographer extraordinaire is around, you really do leave it to the experts.

Since that day, we have had a lot of flower bookings and experimented with paper styles and size. Every flower we make is completely hand crafted by us and we can create them using a wide range of materials and colours.

If you would like to order some for your own celebration, do not hesitate to get in touch. We love any excuse to get our scissors out and create something beautiful.

2013, what a year.

2013 at Strange Case Collective has been amazing.

We turned two-years-old, got featured on our favourite wedding blogs, headed the design for a nationwide TV commercial, made hundreds of paper flowers, met our crafting Queen and helped to create incredible memories for an amazing couple. We've definitely packed it all in.

We were going to sit here and write a big blog highlighting everything we did, but then we thought, hey, a picture says a thousand words. So here are thousands of words for you, featuring our most favourite projects and moments this year.

Here is to 2014, bring it on.
