Taking time out.
I love my job. I really do. I get to surround myself with talented people and work with a really great team. Not many people get to say that they work with their best friend and I love that I can, but as any business owners will know, establishing your working hours is one of the hardest parts. Choosing what time to switch off, turn off your emails and stop working can be really hard. This is something at times I really can be guilty of.
With a partner who works in the creative industry and also runs their own business I have to admit we have spent many a Friday evening working into the night, on various projects, chatting over emails and eating dinner in-between deadlines. It's great that we both understand the bizarre hours, the long days and the sometimes lack of weekend but sometimes, we need to take a step back and just take some time out.
Living in Liverpool we are very lucky to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery. There really is something for everyone. If you are a lover of architecture, there is an abundance of sights to see. If you love strolling around greenery, we have some of the prettiest parks and open spaces there is. It was after reading a similar post earlier this year, that made me realise. I need to start appreciating this more and taking the time to relax.
Last week, with the sun shining, I headed to one of the parks local to me. Sefton Park. It was full of people all with the same idea. Walking dogs, feeding the ducks and eating picnics. One of the great things about Sefton Park is that every corner you turn, or hill you walk up, there is something new to see. From the palm house, to the lake there is always a quiet spot to be found. Not to mention the baby ducks, swans and geese everywhere. I am a sucker for a baby animal and seeing them up close really made my day.

SCC Turns Three!
May 15th, 2011. The day we decided to turn our love of design into a business. Three years have passed since then and we really have loved every minute! Putting this post together today has been awesome and seeing all the work we have created, companies we've worked with and people we've met has brought a huge smile to our faces. The past year has been a huge one for us. We've entered the world of weddings, worked on some of our biggest projects to date and extended our team.
Without our fabulous team, support of our family and the wonderful clients we work with, we wouldn't be able to say we have the best job in the world. Something we really feel we do. Every single day is different for us, one day we could be creating a staircase full of hand made paper flowers or replicating a roman tombstone, the requests we get are awesome. Not only are we getting to work in the industry we adore every day, we get to do this all, alongside our best friends. It really is the cherry on the top.
But anyway, less of the soppy and more of the celebrating.
To celebrate turning three, we are going to be having a three day celebration that just so happens to coincide with the launch of our brand new Etsy shop tomorrow! We have some lovely discounts, offers and a giveaway planned so be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to be in with a chance of winning and to hear all about it first.
We've put together some photographs of our favourite projects from May 2011-2014. Grab a cuppa, eat some cake and wish us Happy Birthday!
Here is to many more years!

How I Spent Easter Sunday.
I love my family. I know this is a pretty obvious statement, but I really do. With SCC being full time (and the rest!) I like to make sure I spend as much of my spare time with them as I can.
My Mum, Dad and Nan are my world and now we have my cousins daughter Sadie in our lives (my best friend is 18 months, so what ;) ), family occasions are always something to look forward to. I've always been creative and I've noticed more and more over the past couple of years that I get this from my Mum. She loves any excuse to have people over, be the perfect host and make her house look amazing when they do. Together we need zero excuse to get the dining table fully dressed, filled with flowers and looking varied every time. So of course, Easter Sunday was no different.
Here are some of my favourite parts of the day. Including the home made decorations, spray painted decanters and the most amazing cheeseboard from Liverpool Cheese Company.
How did you spend Easter? Do you use your spare time to socialise with family? I'd love to know!
Also, if you are a fan of our coloured decanters, we are going to be doing a tutorial soon showing you how to create them yourself.

Flower Power at The Custard Factory
We adore being a part of the alternative wedding industry. Being surrounded by people who think outside the box, create wedding dresses covered in tattoos and photograph your day in heelys, makes us smile on a daily basis. So as you can imagine, there were smiles all round when the fabulous Jay Emme Photography tagged us in the following photos earlier this month.
Photos via @sarahdoowopdos instagram and @cosmicgirlie instagram.
It featured our very bright paper flowers being used for a very impromtpu photo shoot with Rachael of Marry Me Ink. The flowers where in Birmingham with Jo at The Couture Company for a shoot she had done previously with Emma Case. So seeing them being used again, with another awesome photographer made us very happy indeed.
Taking place in and around the Custard Factory, Jay photographed Rachael wearing the most incredible dresses by The Couture Company, (that lining, those flowers! *swoon*) and Rachael's hair and make up where styled to perfection by Sarah's Doo-Wop Dos.
We loved seeing our rainbow coloured flowers being used in such an awesome way. If you are interested in ordering some for your big day or event, send an email or get in touch to find out more. We can send our flowers anywhere in the UK and prices start from £10.00 per flower for the large varieties. To see more paper flower examples, check out our website.
The full set of photos have been featured over on the Marry Me Ink blog, so do go and check it out, but here are our favourite images from the day.
